Plainville Will Dance Saturday

Mackenzie Litke celebrates after his infield single in the ninth.
6/3/08--Plainville’s DJ Voisine showed a lot of guts on the mound Tuesday night at Muzzy Field in Bristol.  His composure helped lead the Blue Devils to the dance for the first time in seven years knocking off undefeated Seymour, 5-1 in nine innings.

The Blue Devils struck first in the fourth when Voisine singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by David Soltis.  Alex Bulger stepped in and drove the ball deep to right center for a double scoring Voisine to give Plainville a 1-0 lead.

Seymour (25-1) looked to answer in the sixth when Rob Moir singled but was doubled up when Plainville’s (20-4) third baseman Michael Thomas caught a bunt attempt and gunned out Moir to end the threat.
Starter DJ Voisine earned the win striking out six.
The Wildcats were down to their final out when John Murphy got a hold of a Voisine fastball and drove it deep to right center for a triple.  Jordan Kershaw followed with a seeing-eye single to right field to score Murphy and tie the game at 1-1.  In an attempt to move into scoring position, Kershaw attempted to steal second but was denied when Bulger threw out his second base stealer of the night to end the inning and force the game to extra innings.

In the ninth, Mackenzie Litke reached on an infield single and Soltis worked a walk.  That forced Seymour starting pitcher Chris Renzoni out of the game.  Bulger rips a single to left to load the bases with one out.  Taylor Perun delivers a hit he’ll remember for the rest of his life that scored Litke and Soltis to give Plainville a 3-1 lead.  Murphy came in to continue relief duties for Seymour but sent a pitch to the backstop to score Bulger and increase the Blue Devil lead, 4-1.  Perbeck followed with a an RBI single to score Perun.
