Farmington's Offense Cracks Edgewood

Coming into Sunday’s match-up against Farmington (3-0), Edgewood of Bristol (2-1) had not been scored on in the District 5 All-Star Tournament.  The boys from Farmington brought their bats and unloaded for 14 runs to hand Edgewood their first loss of the tournament, 14-6.

Farmington’s Mac Carnes provided the All-Stars with plenty of offense, going 4-for-4 on the long afternoon.  Colin Cheesman drove in three runs, while Ivan Guadalupe knocked in a pair.  Luis Alvarez, Peter Nanos, Daniel Quirk, Kevin Mathieu and Thomas Dean also had hits for Farmington.  Tadas Jalinskas, Luis Alvarez and Thomas Dean and Carnes all took the mound for Farmington as Jalinskas earned the win.  Alvarez also made several challenging plays at shortstop.

Elijah Minella was the offensive standout for Edgewood, cranking a deep two-run homerun in the fourth inning off and a solo shot in the sixth.  DeAndre Sapp, Gabe Santana and Corey Spinny also added hits for Edgewood, and both Gino Nicoletti and Brandon Badette walked twice.

Farmington takes on Southington South today at 5:45 at Recreation Park in Southington. 
Edgewood will play Ed Walsh on Tuesday at 5:45 at Recreation Park in Southington
