Northwest Wins Battle of the Tribes

Northwest Catholic's JC Carr shoots over Farmington's Jimmy Gatheright and Christian Dubay.
1/6/10-West Hartford--JC Carr shot 8-for-10 from the field to lead Northwest Catholic over Farmington, 53-30.

Before Thursday nights game started, Northwest Catholic honored head coach of 23 years John Mirabello for winning his 400th game Saturday night at Bulkeley.  After a brief ceremony and Mirabello thanking Farmington coach Duane Witter for taking a few of those wins away, the game got underway.

Northwest used it explosiveness to cruise to a 17-11 first quarter lead and didn't look back.  Carr missed his first two shots of the game, then he couldn't miss.  At times he seemed surprised by his touch, smiling as he joined his team back to play defense.  He had plenty to smile about scoring a game high 16 points.  Senior Julian Harris scored 12 and was big on the boards for Northwest.  Taylor Ramos netted 8 for the winning tribe.

Sophomore center Ben Pollack led Farmington with 10 points and senior captain Nick Scarrozzo scored 6.

Northwest Catholic improves their record to 4-2, #401 for Mirabello.  They'll travel to Southington Monday for a 7pm start.   Farmington falls to 2-5 and heads to Newington Monday for a 7pm tip.
