1/14/10-Southington--The Blue Knights defense shut down the Indians allowing just 10 points during the final 16 minutes of the game.
At the end of three, Farmington trailed by three. On the Indians' first possession of the frame, Greg Rosshirt's off-balance shot missed the mark and Southington took over. The Blue Knights moved the ball down court and 8 passes later Nick DeFeo (16 points) found Tyler Dube open beyond the arc in the corner to double the Blue Knight lead. Rosshirt tried a three of his own next time down the court, missed and a long rebound was gathered by Southington. The Blue Knights got another bounce their way when Jordan Chapman passed the ball off the head of Farmington's Shamar Brooks and Southington's Mike Rhodd had an easy layup, his only basket of the game. Southington now led by 8.
This time Farmington's Nick Scarrozzo launched one from beyond the arc, was hit on the arm as he took the shot, no call, and Sal Ramano gathered the rebound off the glass. Southington took the ball down the court and Dube found Ramano under the basket for 2 of his 6 points. Southington's lead was now double figures. Farmington had a chance to cut the lead when Ben Pollack was fouled, but came up empty on his free-throws. The Blue Knights answered with DeFeo's second three pointer of the quarter and a 13 point lead. With under 3 minutes left in the game, the Indians mounted a little comeback, but there just wasn't enough time.
Farmington was led by Jimmy Gatheright with 9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals. Scarrozzo scored 9 and had a steal. Pollack dropped 6 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Shamar Brooks pulled down 4 big rebounds for Farmington.
Farmington falls to 2-7 and hosts Conard Tuesday night. Southington improves to 7-2 and travels to Hall in West Hartford on Tuesday.
