Indians Take Down Bucks, 5-2

Farmington's Connor Burns puts a hit on E.O. Smith-Tolland-Windham's Alex Lefevre.
2/17/10-Simsbury--Farmington hosted the E.O. Smith-Tolland-Windham for matinee hockey Wednesday afternoon and defeated the Bucks easily by a score of 5-2.

Farmington got on the board in the first when Nick Palen delivered a perfect pass from behind the net to Andrew Lindquist who beat Bucks' goalie David Azinheira to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.

E.O. Smith-Tolland-Windham tied it up early in the second when David Cobb's backhand shot beat Farmington's goalie Kyle Krajick top shelf short side.  Moments later Farmington's Brian Cohan won a battle for the puck behind the net and snapped off a tough-angle shot that found the back of the net to give Farmington the 2-1 lead.

When senior captain Nick Palen steps over the boards, his speed and size creates mismatches and scoring opportunities for Farmington.  He forced Bucks forward Tom Allanach to trip him at center ice giving the Indians a man advantage.  The power-play looks to be improving for Farmington.  They moved the puck well, delivered crisp passes and put bodies in front of the net.  Their efforts paid off a minute and twenty-three seconds later when C.J. Spellman ripped a shot past Azinheira from the blue line for the game-winner.  Dominic Bazzano and Eric Meier got the assists.

In the third Meier scored with assists from Anthony Georger and Lindquist.  Later in the period Palen scored with an assist going to Luke Thomson to give Farmington a 5-1 lead.  Late in the game the Bucks' Chris Sadow managed to get one past Krajick with the help of a screen in front to soften the loss to 5-2.

Farmington's Kyle Krajick stopped 10 shots to earn the win.  Azinheira made 24 saves.

Farmington improves to 8-7-2 and will host Watertown Saturday at 5pm.  E.O. Smith-Tolland-Windham falls to 9-6-1 and hosts Rocky Hill-RHAM Saturday at 6pm.
