Farmington & NWC Skate to 4-4 Tie...again

Farmington's Allen Yi and Northwest Catholic's Patrick Melanson battle for the puck.
1/30/10-Simsbury--One bad break coupled with plenty of time in the sin bin had Farmington searching for the come-from-behind tally late in the third.

Northwest started the scoring in the second when Taylor Waybright scored with an assist from Zach Boorman.  Farmington's Connor Burns took a pass from Eric Meier and scored with traffic in front of the net.  Freshman Matt Cowles gave Farmington a 2-1 lead with assists from Brian Cohan and Luke Thomson.

Matt Rode started the scoring for Northwest in the third and tied the game at 2 with Boorman getting the assist.  Farmington regained the lead when CJ Spellman backhanded one past Tim Waltman for the unassisted goal.  27 seconds later Farmington mishandled the puck behind their net and a pass went off skates and into their own net to tie the game at 3.  With 7:15 remaining in the game Northwest's Patrick Melanson took a shot from the point that Chemente stops all day long but Boorman parked in front of the net and deflected the shot over the shoulder of Chemente for the go-ahead goal.  Alex Hunter had the other assist on the tally.

For most of the season Farmington has struggled with the man advantage.  When shorthanded, they seem to turn up the pressure and that proved true once again.  With Andrew Lindquist in the box,
Dominic Bazzano took the puck at his blue line and broke free for a semi-break away.  Northwest Catholic's goalie Tim Waltman made the initial save but Eric Meier was there to put in the rebound for the equalizer.

Both teams had chances in overtime.  Northwest Catholic rung one off the post and Farmington finished the game on the power-play.  Neither could find the back of the net and for the second time this season, the two skated to a 4-4 tie.

Farmington netminder Kyle Chemente stopped 25 shots and Northwest Catholic's Tim Waltman turned away 19 chances.

Farmington now stands at 5-5-2 and travels to Champions in Crowell on Friday to face Rocky Hill-RHAM-Middletown at 8pm.  Northwest Catholic is 8-2-2 and travels to Trinity to take on Wethersfield at 7:15pm.
