WETHERSFIELD – For three quarters, the Wethersfield High girls basketball team hung with one of the state’s top teams in Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport .
The fourth was the Eagles’ undoing.

NEW BRITAIN -The last few months have been a whirlwind for talented local athlete Mathew Correa.
Through the benevolence of NBPD captain Dennis Beatty, whose grass-roots social work has been keeping kids off the streets and in football uniforms for 32 years, Correa experienced his second trip to Orlando, Fla., as quarterback of the American Youth Football League national-champion New Britain PAL Raiders.

WETHERSFIELD- Wethersfield High girls basketball coach Brian Fanelli felt it best to employ the principle that the most direct way to success is by taking the hard road.
The schedule was a bit too light for his liking last season when the Eagles soared to an 18-2 record in the regular season and the top seed in Class L, only to lose a hard-fought but mistake-filled second-round game at home to East Lyme.
Although his team was on the young side, he determined that the regular season didn’t prepare his girls for the challenge that the tournament presents. Fourteen of the wins were by 14 points or more.
